"Where are these on the left?"

Canada's government-sponsored attempt at control of use of pronouns was certainly a government-led and left-led attack on free speech.

But in your deft nudge of the discussion toward places where government power has held more influence in recent years, you kind of took the discussion to a different place than where I envisioned it.  I was talking about "out in society" less than "in government."  The violent takeovers of city spaces (in the name of protests but really just a sort of nihilistic anarchy) in Portland, Seattle and others shut down now only peoples' freedom of dissent but also their freedom of movement, property rights, and the rule of law.  And it's still happening.  If you want to to talk about violent or near-violent shout-downs on college campuses, they almost always come from the Left.  Simple observation revealed that.
