You got me to thinking...

I've never understood why Christians and non Christians alike are so zealously loyal to the celebration of Christ-mas: purportedly a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ(which would be cool were it true but not nearly as important as his overcoming death for all who would but believe). 'course we all know this holyday has nothing to do with the Savior.

Anyhow, it clicked in with a more succinct clarity, beyond the usual pagan adaptation thematic: it's simply a holyday for the other Christ! of scripture, the one who took Jesus up to an exceeding high mountain to show him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, the god of this world, the father of liars, the other anointed one....

Shazzam! now it makes perfect sense, why it's so widely and readily embraced the world over.

No doubt it's an unconscious* spiritual expression for the vast majority of humanity, but Christians should know better: at the very least on the basis that we are to be in the world but not of the world.

Anywho, I thought this realization extremely cool.

peaceably,

* like all the folks who wear crosses, celebrating the crucifixion of the Christ they have no use for. We're such fascinating critters....
