Oh. Okay, Marc. You're right. Sorry I spoke up for the college students, mall shoppers, and movie goers who should've had a right to go about their business with a reasonable expectation that they might have had a right to get home alive. What about "freedom from guns"? We don't allow people to be exposed to "second-hand" cigarette smoke anymore. Why should those of us who choose to live without firearms be subject to your gun kink? Why do we have to die in a hail of bullets to support your obsession with firearms ownership?

According to recent polls, you are clearly in the majority in your defense of people who fetishize guns and ammo. I can't believe the absence of decency and compassion that you and your ilk have for human beings who die in episodic violence like the recent Colorado shootings. I don't identify or even remotely relate to that aspect of American culture.

So keep your rigid, lethal ideology and your belligerent attack on anyone who suggests a more human approach to these ongoing national problems. You're right. And Jesus supports you. Whatever ridiculous stance you take on your 'rights' as an American, know that "Christianity" and "Jesus" are behind you 100%. I hope you get an opportunity to draw your own firearm in defense of a crowded theater full of panicked theatergoers just to prove you are the man you think you are.

I've been here at DBIS for a long time. I came here for a love of David's music. That hasn't changed. I still love his stuff and I've made good friends here, but I find much of the company at DBIS kind of reprehensible: libertarians, gun fetishists, Republican party apologists, and lots of trolls and provocateurs. I ask once more the question I asked more than a dozen years ago: (Look it up!) "Why does David Baerwald attract such a bunch of right-wing dopes and ideologues?"

More to the point, why does Baerwald put up with this? Occasionally, he pipes in with an opinion or a reprimand to an especially obnoxious post, but his increasing absence, especially in the loss of several long-time poster/fans and the rise of reactionary, ridiculous political posts indicate Baerwald's lack of interest in this board.

I'm demoralized. I'm tired of fighting with idiots. I'm tired of trying to compose witty retorts to people who really just deserve a slap upside the head. I'm trying to imagine a DBIS website comprised of Green Mountain, Pat/Randym, Marc, Dale, and Cyanaura. What a fucking coda to the great musical accomplishments of David Baerwald.
