When it comes to this debate you have one side that uses examples of terrible acts where almost any gun control would have been almost meaningless to prevent them (i.e., mentally ill offenders) and then on the other side you have a group of people who resist any sort of gun control where there are some proven reasonable laws that could have prevented firearms from getting in the hands of criminals (i.e., straw purchases). To me, American fascination with firearms just borders on bizarre....
