Like I said: the Jesus metaphor has been misappropriated by social conservatives and rigid ideologues with no empathy for people less well off than themselves. Poor old Jesus has been turned into a sorry Savior sad-sack for free enterprisers, no regulators, self-aggrandizers, and private property rights disciples.

Time to retire the Old Boy to Florida or some other red state. We need a fresh mythology.
