Yes, please ask for help from a professional . . .
Here's where it gets scary - I am a professional! Or, will be fairly soon.
I've consulted quite a few PhDs, MDs, EdDs, referred until I was blue in the face, spent the night in an emergency room and banged my head against a parental wall throughout. Her parents don't believe in therapy, but they desperately need it.
I really am the only person she's got fighting for her. I have a reason: my own mother committed suicide 3 years ago. To top it off, a friend who supported me through my own grief lost her daughter to suicide last weekend--two small children lost the only parent they had.
I know it's hard to tell, but trust that I know the proper protocols, and where possible, I'm following them. Meanwhile, I've got a young woman spending a few weeks in my guest room and we both visit our therapists regularly.
I greatly appreciate the psychological and musical input. If only we all had fairy godmothers...If Only.
