Music has always pulled me through some of the tougher times in my life too Kelly. I think most of us here are going to be hard pressed to come up with some music that a troubled 16 year old girl can even relate to.

But for me there is one song that has really touched me for the past 25 years. I still play it to this day when I just need a good cry.

"Supper's Ready" by Genesis. (Yup Reg....prog.)

I only listen to this 23 minute masterpiece when I need it. When I get depressed and really down about things I put it in the cd player, turn off the lights and I let myself go into the music and the story it tells. When the closing section comes on, my body and my mind purge all of the negativity that has brought to this low. I cry like a baby.

Here are the lyrics that get me every time;

And it's hey babe, with your guardian eyes so blue,
Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true,
I've been so far from here,
Far from your loving arms,
Now I'm back again, and babe it's gonna work out fine.

Can't you feel our souls ignite
Shedding ever changing colours,
in the darkness of the fading night,
Like the river joins the ocean,
as the germ in a seed grows
We have finally been freed to get back home.

There's an angel standing in the sun,
and he's crying with a loud voice,
"This is the supper of the mighty one",
Lord of Lords,
King of Kings,
Has returned to lead his children home,
To take them to the new Jerusalem.

This is the first time I've shared this little secret with anyone. My wife doesn't even know. It's a very personal thing for me. Unfortunately, I don't think this 30+ year old song will have the same effect on your friend Kelly, but you're right in thinking there is a song out there that will have the same effect on her as this one does on me. I hope she finds it soon.

Best of luck to you both.
