The guys I'd like to suggest are Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake. They have done some really cool work with the guys from Los Lobos and they also did the last Randy Newman album. If I were to put together a record of my own songs I think I'd call them first. Another guy I think might be a good choice would be T-Bone Burnett. The list of things he's done is to long to get into but he's another guy I think would work well with what Dave's got going on. I know this doesn't have much to do with producers but I'd love to hear Levon Helm singing on "It's Hard To Give A Damn". When I hear that song I just think of The Band and man it would be cool to hear Levon sing "Stands the cotton just as far as you can see..." etc. It's almost as if Dave wrote it with him in mind. I also think it would be fun to have Dr. John on "Bozo Wierdo Wacko Creep". Hell, maybe ol' Mac himself could produce or you could call in Alan Toussaint to handle those chores and let the Doc play on the whole record. Sorry, just fantasizing. Just thought I'd throw that stuff out there and see what stuck. Or at least what David or anyone else thought about it.
