In sitting back and watching the MAGA shit show, I'm wondering if the only way they will start turning away from Trump is if some other sort of Republican becomes his better, or at least his equal, in throwing out the red meat.
Beyond that, I don't even know if there is even someone out there more capable of doing that and if at some point some sort of outlier will emerge.
I keep hearing about how New Hampshire's Gov. Chris Sununu is a "moderate" anti-Trumper. Still, in the interviews I've seen, this guy is no moderate (he was on Bill Maher a while back and exposed some of this, and then not long ago he made some far-right comments that were suitable for the MAGA crowd). To me, he is being sold as a moderate, but in the end, I think he is more of a "never Trumper" but not an anti-MAGA candidate (though he may be selling himself as one).
I think Christie is going to attack Trump in ways we are going to enjoy, but I really don't think he is a viable candidate in these times where visuals are so important in a presidential race (that's why I'm not optimistic about our own Gov Pritzker).
Now, what really bothers me, is while so many others find all of this entertaining to watch, to me the most important thing that matters is what we are seeing of a troubling block of American citizens and how what we are being shown is not scaring the hell out of ALL Americans. I mean, to see this blind allegiance to this disgusting and damaging man is frightening and especially when each day brings about new information regarding his criminality and behavior and he still leads in Republican polls.
I mean, shit, look back to the Presidential races of the late 80s where just admitting to puffing cannabis was enough to end someone's presidential aspirations.
Nowadays, Trump supporters don't even care he tried to overthrow our government, has sexually abused women, stole secret documents, and is openly a racist son of a bitch.
To me, THAT is what is troubling as hell, and the thoughts of how a group of people only care about an R or D before a name above all else only adds to that concern.
