I find it astounding how often one political party will pull the other political party out of trouble for crazy or stupid reasons and more often than not, it is the Dem Party or Dem pol but this time it was a Republican.

Apparently, Rand Paul became upset over some sort of slight and put a stop to Biden and McConnell's side deal and jettisoned this tremendous Biden belly flop. 

(Oddly, I wonder if Paul was looking farther down the road and saw how this was actually a horribly stupid longer-term agreement for Republicans, while just a horrible flash point political Biden overture).

Still, imagine, Paul stopping this almost unbelievable.
