Icon Yeah, that's the typical way gun discussion goes here...

Pro gun people will argue minutia with you all day long. Their primary goal is to NEVER discuss the problems but to instead argue about the things you have not said or some comment you made that they want to use as a way to show you don't know about this gun or that gun or a supposed rule of owning a gun or storing a gun, or whatever. They do that basically to show they are a gun owner that knows guns and to dismiss the other person as a know nothing that should be ignored when it comes to discussing the gun issue.

It's the typical bury you in crap so that the real point and problem is lost.

We have mass shootings daily. A mass shooting is basically defined as a shooting where at least 4 people are shot. So, yes, mass shootings are as common as a cup of coffee here. All these people with guns, and there are a lot of them, are not stopping all these shootings.

So, to be fair, there are plenty of good gun owners and we know this from a simple fact, if all the gun owners were nuts, the bloodbath we would have on our streets would be insane. This has nothing to do with the ease of purchasing a weapon here and purchasing one that can fire a large number of rounds without reloading. Which also quite simply makes it way easier for someone that wants to commit a mass shooting to kill more people.

The facts are that when we had a ban on weapons that could fire a greater number of rounds and high capacity magazines mass shootings went way down. When we lifted the ban mass shootings went back up. That's simple math.

It's also a fact that nobody is going to take the existing guns that are out there from "good gun owners", never going to happen, this does not have support from Democrats nor Republicans. NEVER going to happen. Does not mean that you will not hear repeated over and over and over from the gun lobby, right wing media outlets, and all over the foaming at the mouth internet that the Democrats are coming for your guns. You will hear that lie and that lie sticks with gun owners.

So, sadly all you have to do is what that German woman did and make a 2 second comment in a 15 minute video about something else, and if that 2 second comment is about a gun topic, you will probably get a bunch of responses seeking to "correct" that comment.

These same folks that "correct" you will NEVER speak about correcting our gun issues though. They will go on for days about not saying "assault rifle" if you say that...because that is important to them. They will talk to you about the media, they will talk to you about all the gun laws we have, they will go on and on about guns being just a tool and that you could kill someone with a hammer as well.

They won't talk about our problems though and when a bunch of school kids end up dead they will say their thoughts and prayers are with them...unless they are  true gun crazies, in which case they will tell you the shootings never happened and it was a false flag staged with actors. The scientific phrase for that being, fucking dumb. Thank you, Alex Jones.

The problem is when you hear the utter stupidity offered up when the gun topic comes up, like making sure there are more guns in schools, it pretty much confirms people's worst fears...that along with the good gun owners out there, well, there are a lot of morons with guns as well.

Which makes us all feel safe.
