First, I asked if they could explain to me what CRT was. They never know what it is and so you will get all sorts of crazy answers to that. I then attempt to as gently as I can, unless they really piss me off, explain what CRT is. I usually throw in that to me CRT always meant cathode ray tube because I went to school in the 1980s for television and film production and it referred to equipment not Critical Race Theory.

Then I will ask how long they have had an issue with CRT. This generally results in either a lie where they say they have been concerned about it for years or they just are so up in arms about it they do not realize they never heard the term until three months ago.

Then I ask what their principal issue is with CRT. Mainly their issue is they believe every public school is teaching it. Here, I tell them "Problem solved! Nobody is teaching it, unless you go to law school."

This is where their eyes cross and they get riled up because they have so convinced themselves this is being taught nationwide in every public school.

Here is where the conversation may take a turn for the worst. This is when they are mostly likely to raise a racist flag and explode into some rant that most often includes the words "Black lives matter" and a bunch of total gibberish.

This is generally the point where I can't take anymore and I unload on them in such a way to make them look and feel as stupid as possible. I can't say this is a great idea and I have been told several times I should not do that but...sometimes I just feel that if you publically embarrass a person and make them feel some sort of shame they may withdraw from making the same fucking mistake again.

I'm sure I am wrong and probably the likely thing is the person is going to go off in a simmering rage while pondering committing a mass shooting. Or at least gunning me down the next time they see me.

I figure being in Massachusetts I probably won't get shot and should continue the trend of exposing people to public humiliation IF they say things that are as wildly ignorant as these CRT morons are prone to spouting.
