I'm curious, EEE, how should an officer safely restrain elderly suspects who aren't cooperating?
Coincidentally, just a few days ago, Sam Harris (a practitioner of BJJ) interviewed Rener Gracie who is apparently a universally recognized expert in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Gracie's company has been training police departments in BJJ with apparently excellent results. He provided some startling information regarding the grossly inadequate training afforded cops with regard to going hands-on a suspect. I think he said the NYC police get about an hour or so per year in it when he recommends an hour per week. It was insightful.
