Unfortunately, I think a lot of this is much deeper than those of us that are fortunate enough to either see through all the bullshit or resist things for one reason or another.

For example, when my parents were living I remember how many times they quit smoking and never could. The fucking nicotine was just too powerful. Then, I recall a co-worker who arrogantly would declare how he just put the cigarettes down one day and that was it.

My point is, people are made differently and I think we often over look this.

As for Sullivan's points....I think he is hitting on something that deserves so much study and that is how our capitalistic, wealth-obsessed nation breeds us to be troubled and shallow people in search of the meaningless instead of things that mean something while persuading us that we do exist in a meaningful world.

And to prove this look at this site and the person we are fans of - look at his art and then contrast that to the idiots out there being paid millions and millions of dollars to sing into a voice-altering microphone putting out pure sonic drivel.

To end, for years I've been working on some sort of essay about how if you think of it the dollar bill is really without value, but I just can't get it where I want it yet....
