I sort of have a vague recollection of the Free State thing and basically
that it pretty much was a total flop. I think I did read an article about
it years after it was attempted that sort of took the attitude it was a
crazy joke. I offered up the video of Weld and Johnson in no way as an endorsement of
them nor as an option for people that don't want to vote for Clinton or
Trump. The main reason I posted it had to do with my comments on the
Republican party. These guys may represent one possible route that party
may go. Weld and Johnson being Republicans (old school) after all. Their
platform of fiscal conservatism paired with progressive social policy and
a non-interventionist foreign policy is likely one of the better
directions the Republicans could go in. Of course that would mean dumping
their heavy involvement with Tea Party like nuts and backing away from
the Christian right...and of course a full "Dump the Trump" agenda. I sort of wondered what Pat, Dale, or Marc might think of the Johnson and
Weld video. I mean as much as I feel disenfranchised by the direction the
Democrats have taken I wonder how people that might want to vote
Republican feel about how that party has utterly collapsed. I think Weld joined Johnson's ticket specifically because what they are
up to is attempting to offer some sort of beacon for lost Republicans to
follow.I mean to me voters that prefer Democrats or Republicans should not be at
odds because currently they have a couple of assholes at the top of their
tickets. We're all in an unfortunate position because of that.
