With enough effort, you may find a smattering of Clinton supporters who exhibit such overt hostility, but they aren't the norm. There is a messianic component to the Trump adulation. He, and he alone, understands our fears and grievances that arise from economic and demographic changes. He, and he alone, can turn back the clock to that safe and rosy time when white men held all the power. That nostalgic time they enjoyed prior to civil, women's, and gay rights. His followers simply cannot be argued out of their positions. Trump has an emotional hold that combines the worst elements of religion and nationalism. And they're armed to the teeth!

To paraphrase a character Bette Davis once played, "Hold on America, it's going to be a bumpy ride!"
