I agree, Peter. I too had the impression that his reluctance to meet with me had more to do with not wanting me rocking his boat more than anything else. He didn't have the will or desire to challenge any of his long held beliefs, say nothing of having to stand before his congregation and explain to them that maybe he's been wrong about some things in the past.

To an outsider there are going to be aspects of any religion that cause you to scratch your head and say "really?". Beliefs bought into and invested in over time aren't let go of easily. It's all part of the faith aspect to believing that there's something more, something beyond this physical realm that we can't see. I do believe that but my understanding of it aren't nearly as rock-solid as they once were.

That looks like an interesting book but I can guarantee you he wouldn't go near it for the same reason he won't sit down with me. He's already got it all figured out.
