I really liked your description of what good theatre can do for everyone involved, Messy! We just
saw God of Carnage. It earned awards somewhere but we all thought it was a lot of hot air. It
lacked sympathetic characters and offered up an over abundance of screaming and histrionics. A
lot of energy was expended on-stage but all in all, a pointless spectacle. In 5th grade, I was Hamlet in a very abridged version. Got a wooden sword, and tights, and my
dad's work shirt. And rave reviews too, but I never pursued it further. Didn't want it to go to my
head. Now I'm on stage everyday, but it's in front of the same 27 11-12 year olds. And the sword
and tights just wouldn't cut it. Peter T.
