Adaptation is a great film. No argument here.
Another GEM I thought of is a film called Niagra Niagra. Henry Thomas and Robin Tunney in a twisted kinda road picture. She has Tourette's Syndrome and he's leaving behind a very bad home situation. Throw in a touch of Drugstore cowboy and a search for a Barbie styling head of the African-American variety, and you've got an unforgettable set of characters.
I guess I understated my feelings on Matrix Reloaded. The action in that film is actually really really good, but I thought the film got bogged down in its own mythology. I understood it,but I think they OVER explained everything only to have its foundation knocked out from under itself in the next scene. Lots of bluster. A little bit less of that (save it for the Special Edition DVD) and I think I would have enjoyed it more. I am supposed to go see it again this weekend in the IMAX format. I may have to revisit my gut reation. We'll see.
Kent you are right on target. The ANIMATRIX DVD is really very entertaining. I love the ones they had available for free at this site http://www.intothematrix.com/
They gave away the very best the DVD has to offer. Both the Renaissance parts and Program are amazing.
My DVD sets of Futurama , Family Guy & Mr. Show get regular exposure when I need a quick fix of irreverance.
Buckaroo Bonzai also holds up very well almost 20 years later.
