hahaha…IMO it was 90some unwasted minutes. I’ve learned to appreciate the Coen Bros at face-value. They don’t waste dialogue or camera angles, everything is a toggle switch that turns on the next light, ///EVEN if it’s not a magnificent light or piece of drama or belly laugh or twisted notion tough to stomach. My lady & I didn’t really “love” No Country for Old Men ~~ not our favorite; I wouldn’t buy the DVD but I also wouldn’t have missed seeing it once. On the other hand, (the entire family &) I got several good laughs out of Burn After Reading. Clooney’s reaction shots are still a riot, even though he must have used-up his entire repertoire by now. Pitt was kinda…uh… genius as a moron. I don’t have enough time to get into each character so le’me just say it was intelligent, a little slow starting, but we’ll watch it at home to study the subtleties later. I dug the fade-in……and the segue to fade-out. [slight spoiler alert] That segue being, of-course, in the office of CIA Superior. Belly laugh! Should I have brought the whole family? Hmm…yes, definitely rather have shared the outing with them than not ~~ but my boys have an appreciation for “think” drama/comedy so…
………
…only about 1.5 minutes I coulda done without sharing w/ my almost 16 yr. old. …sheez, now he’s gona want to build one! …nahhhh, probably didn’t traumatize him…much. & the violence was not gratuitous ~~ it was absurd…but not gratuitous.
…I suppose we all “got it” (the irony, that is), and that was entertaining enough for today...& the Mexican was perfect.
In essence, one black comedy in the life of Linda Litzke. [i'm always glad of belly laughs]
Regarding The Ladykillers. … I slept through much of it in the theater and then laughed my ass off watching the DVD at home. Go figure……………..
Coen Bros, ye know?
Quick back to Burn After Reading...
[another slight spoiler alert] I do recall thinking at one point ~~ @ the Russian Embassy, “…Didn’t they see The Falcon and the Snowman!? What the hell are they thinking?” But it played.
CIA Superior: “No, no, …God! no, …burn the body.” ..hahahhhahhh (oh, brother)
