As far as songwriting goes, you have to write what you feel, man..so if your wife cried, it obviously struck the right "chord" (please forgive the pun).  That goes for the happy and silly stuff also.  I write songs also, but usually do it the other way around. I start noodling on the guitar, a riff gets going, and then I scramble about to find words.  So, I don't have the nice poetic verse that you do.   DB, on the otherhand..has it ALL...don't know how he does it; I think they call it GENIUS.
