Thank you. I've never recorded the song as the reaction to it the couple times I played it wasn't so hot. My wife heard it first and wept for about an hour. I took that as sort of a good and bad thing. Good because it seemed what I wrote had some impact and seemed to express where I was at. Bad because I didn't want to bring her down so much.
The second time I played it was to explain the song to a drummer and bassist. My friends Bob and Rick. I thought they could help me flesh out the rest of where I wanted to go with it. They sat in silence for a few seconds then Bob said "That's about your friend John? Jesus, that's depressing!" They then indicated quite clearly they wanted to work on something else.
It's not really something you break out at parties. The song, what there is of it, is a ballad for the most part. I never got to try the different things I wanted to with it. So it's just those lyrics and some guitar chords. So, I'm sorry but I don't have a version to send you. It's nice that you and Kathryn liked it though...in a sad sort of way.
Regards,
Reg
