No, PK, I don't think there is anything unfair about what you are saying, or anything wrong with it either. I do worry a bit when politicians and talk radio hosts, and other media personalities start a crusade over something like this, work up the general public and use it to divide people for political purposes. That paragraph that you quote me from about the 5 to 1 or 1 to 5 stuff ends with a reference to Joe McCarthy and I was working a bit to a satiric end...sort of doing the voice of how a Joe McCarthy type could work the illegal immigration stuff in some nasty ways...it just takes the right guy to pick up the ball and run with it and we're off...you even mentioned race riots only blocks from your house and this is what I mean...they could make this ugly...as you said and you're not wrong "this is more important to our security than a war in Iraq"...I just think we always have to keep the reigns on the government and law enforcement and make them work within very clear boundaries...this is an issue where people could easily allow them to push the envelope...I'm not saying that's what you would want to see but there is something very eerie during times when we have Homeland Security and the Patriot act and a war on terror and we are targeting a specific group of people in our country that number in the millions as one of our big issues...just reminds me of something I can't think of what though right now...That's where I'm coming from...I just think we're in an area where we need to be very cautious...the wrong people using this type of thing in the wrong way and our country shifts to something we would not really want very quick and the talk radio crowd is being pretty nasty about this stuff if you know what I mean...
