There are other issues here as well that would impact the economy. For instance, many of the people living here "under the radar" have children who were born in the USA. Those children are citizens of the United States by law.

Not far down the road from me, a man was recently stopped for speeding as he was on his way to pick up some diapers for his two kids. When it was discovered that he was here illegally, he was shipped home, leaving a wife and these two darling little children to more or less fend for themselves.

The mother can't afford day care, diapers, food, toilet paper, soap . . . all the stuff most of us take for granted. I'm happy to say that she is getting help, so the kids are okay for now (cutest kiddos you ever did see). But I have a hard time seeing the removal of the father of these two citizens as being the best solution to the problem.

How can some simplistic notion of "pack 'em up & ship 'em off" deal with these nuances? As always, there is more to it than a soundbyte will solve.
