Armitage WAS NOT the ONLY leaker, that's why, and not even the one in question regarding Libby.

Pat, do any of you right wingers ever listen to press conferences? Fitzgerald clearly explained why he did and did not charge people.

And if you even skim the facts, you can discover where Fitzgerald was going with this but why he couldn't get there.

Intent is a big issue under the original investigated offense. Under the statute, to charge someone, the intent to purposely divulge a covert CIA agent needed to be shown. Armitage did not have this intent, however, through documentation (marked up editorials and the like by Cheney), the intent of the leakers could not be determined because of Libby's lies and obstruction.

And for the record, Plame was covert - CIA Director Gen Hayden (The BUSH appointed director of the CIA) has stated as such, as has the CIA.

Still, I don't know why anyone even bothers trying to explain this because you wingnuts are so rabid you'll just ignore it anyway.
