Hard core born again, fundamentalist Christians don't have much use for the Pope. They believe that if you aren't "born again" you aren't "saved". Catholics don't adhere to this born again concept and are therefore ineligible for the rapture and all that allegedly awaits thereafter. The divisions among the various Christian denominations are fascinating. They come together for some causes such as anti-abortion protests or to denounce homosexuals (and many others, some of which are worthy) but on matters of faith there can be real schisms. For example, many fundamentalists denounce the Mormons.
