Good article, Peter; very thought provoking.  We can't pretend to really understand the source of the Bible, who wrote what etc...but I don't think that's your main point, is it?  Personally I get frightened by those who run around yelling  "GOD" the loudest.  It usually means they have something to hide, or that something darker rests deep in their souls, typically hatred and intolerance. 

True believers, in any spiritual "system" of belief, can feel self-assured in their belief without belaying it to others, and usually keep it to themselves , or in their respective houses of worship. 

I would hope that Mr.Bush could "walk the walk", and not just "talk the talk".  So far, I have not seen evidence of either.
