Pat asks: Was Hiroshima ethnic cleansing?
I think it was. We certainly weren't going to drop a nuke on whitey, but hey looky here - some yellow fellows!
Compare the two major Axis powers, and tell me which the greatest threat was. Japan took out a couple of piles of sand, while Germany had nearly all of Europe and big chunks of Asia and Africa. Compare the loss of life in the two theatres of war by US troops. The whole spiel about how we couldn't afford to pay the cost of a siege on Japan is so shallow when one sees the price we paid in Europe. If we really wanted to save troops we should have held Hitler at bay, kicked Jap ass, then nuked Berlin. Then the Germans could count the radioactive half-lives in their favorite unit of measure of time - the Millennium.
There, I feel better after a nice PC start to my week.
