I don't understand why everytime somebody in office does something immoral, inethical, or illegal. Those who come to their defense respond with, "well what about what your guy did". I don't care what the papers or tv talking heads say. What Lott said was disgusting, and in light of his long history of similar words and actions, it is obvious to me he is a bigot, and while he has every right to his opinion and to remain a senator, he should not remain in leadership position.
Dont hold your breath waiting on this to happen. As far as comparing him to what others did I have to because I've seen 10 times worse obvious things go unnoticed. There is a double standard here and it is sickening.

As for Bush, it also seems to me that he is more than willing to distance himself from Lott and sacrifice him for the minority vote he needs to get re-elected. We can all make grand statements that our guy is some kind of wonderful leader, but the reality is they are all primarily over-sized egos willing to do what ever it takes to get re-elected.
Yada Yada Yada

Now if you wish to bring up idiotic behavior by someone else in public office or the public eye, let's start a new thread and I'll happily bash them as well, just please don't use one person's ignorance and bigotry to excuse another's
You seem to know exactly what was in the means heart when he made the statement.  How come 2 other senators present there thought nothing of it? Because the press could whip out the race card thats why. Purely and totally political.
