I know for me it's easy to assume people all know the same things I know. I think this often leads to misunderstandings and in the area of political talk...ummm...some nasty exchanges. That's why I tend to be a bit long winded and attempt to explain myself...perhaps a bit too much. Anyway, I think Watergate is just one of those things I just expect everybody to know about. Probably because I've spent too much time thinking about it myself. I always found it a very interesting topic and a turning point in American politics. I know many Republicans would like us to "Get over it!" but the fact is the country has not moved past it because it's infected the system ever since. It seems you are correct though and perhaps more than half of the population has no clue about it. I will at least say the majority of the Marines in my cousins unit were born after Watergate but you would think somewhere along the way in their schooling they'd at least have rubbed up against the topic a bit.
Yes, it was Flaming Freddie Phelps F Troop that was out there protesting at the middle school in Bedford today. Giving Christians a bad name and proving their individual ignorance. At least they were not allowed on school property for the safety of the kids. They were permitted to protest on a road that led to the school. Wonder if any of them had a moment like Paul and saw the error of their ways. I'd say the road to Hell is lined (and likely paved) with pompous pious Semi-Christians.
