Thanks Reg for sharing those tidbits. In response to:
Item 1 I had a similar experience with my mother the other night. She asked me "Wasn't it fascinating to finally learn who Deep Throat was?". I responded that it really wasn't that big of a deal in my life right now . The discussion turned into a debate on it's importance and to whom it matters. We concluded that most likely half of the citizens in the US know nothing significant on the matter of the Watergate scandal.
Item 2 Bravo to your school for letting the flag stay up? Though I question it's importance to flags of other Countries? The Rainbow flag represents the GLTG community worldwide and on a side note: it use to represent "Peace". In fact, many people in Europe still see the flag that way. But if there were flags from other organizations, then I see no problem with it. The freaks in Kansas should stay put in thier own neck of the woods. Let them continue to screw up their backward ass state! Glad to see they have nothing better to do with their lives, time or $. Let me guess, it’s Phelps group isn’t it?
Item3 Sadly, I can only say how not surprised I am by this. The U.S. government has always tried to put a stop to any large group of protest since WWII. Now it’s being sheltered amongst the “Terrorist tag” or shield of defense. Look what they’ve been doing to any large form of ptrotest, since the Iraq War has begun? Then they really turned it up a notch during the Presidential Campaign and Conventions. It’s really sick, and it’s called fading Civil Liberties and Human Rights, folks! And even Phelps freaks should be allowed to protest as long as they keep their language clean and display no hate. Our rights seem to be shrinking faster than the value of the American dollar abroad.
