I waited in line for about 3 hours on behalf of my dad at the neighborhood Costco. He was successful in obtaining the flu shot, thankfully, and Costco gained a lot of new customers. I wonder about those vulnerable senior citizens who don't have children or friends to look out for them. I spoke with many people in the line, all of whom voiced their displeasure that the wealthiest nation on the planet cannot adequately provide the flu vaccine. And these people vote as they were all over 60! I imagine similar scenes are playing out around the country, especially in Florida. This issue will resonate with people. Tip O'Neil said that all politics are local and this hits home like few others. If Karl Rove can tear himself away from his CIA leak concerns, it will be interesting to see how he can spin this against the Democrats. Odd how Bush said we can take flu vaccine from Canada but he signed legislation prohibiting the importation of prescription drugs from there.
