CBS has only one affiliate in Vermont.  It is one of only two privately held television broadcast stations left in the nation.  In local press, there is the Burlington Free Press - http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com, which is owned by Gannett and there is this weekly put out by some independent folks called 7days - http://www.sevendaysvt.com - Will called it a 'left wing rag'.  There's a column in there by a reporter who continually refers to the CBS affiliate as WGOP.  My far right father, on the other hand, considers the affiliate's work too liberal and is just this side of unglued about the 'progressives' in this state and the station's attention to them.  Maybe it's  because it's a mutant offspring of the democratic party, the latter of which were somewhat predictable to him.  Maybe not.

I'm nobody's journalist, but I think journalism has it's place in history right back to the runners in Greece.  Lately, it seems like the standards for journalism and military intelligence have been compromised, whether it's Fox News or Abu Ghraib.   Journalism should not be left or right - it should be accurate - much like the intelligence community.

But hey, it's just me tinkerin' and what do I know..
