Thanks for sharing your story, Kevin. Very interesting indeed and who knows if it was a coincidence or something more profound was involved. Still, please understand my hesitation at taking the leap of faith that you take when you state that the gospels in question are divinely inspired. Do you view the Old and New Testaments as both divinely inspired? If so, how do you reconcile those sections (the majority of which are undoubtedly in the Old Testament), that are so obviously destructive and, in my opinion, repugnant (selling one's daughter into slavery, slaying recalcitrant children at the city gates, slaying anyone who works on the Sabbath, buring someone to death if they sleep with their in-laws, there are many, many more as I'm sure you are aware). What is your take on these? It seems to me that Christians pick and choose among these religious tenents according to what suits their agenda. How often do we hear Leviticus quoted when putting down gays? I know you have mixed feelings in this area yourself. Don't you have to embrace it all if you truly believe these are God's rules that we must live by? Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks,
Peter T.
