1. in obligatory defense of the alaska elk-shit shovellers, many people consider such jobs much nicer than menial jobs in big cities, with the perk of a lovely location. of course prisoners should be suffering as part of their punishment, but those that can still contribute to the world--work, art, and hopefully rehabilitation-- should be given opportunites.

having musical equipment isn't necessarily being pampered. one can hope they had to work for it. if the music is worth anything, it's worth some coverage. i don't know about vh1. i haven't seen cable tv in a long long time. i'm not into making celebrities out of murderers, but i'm not into outright ignoring them either.

2. someone recently compared abortion to killing iraqis (either the good ones or the bad ones). and then the latest postings about eggs, etc. it's interesting to compare perhaps, but equating sober termination of a pregnancy with killing someone else shouldn't be done, regardless of whether you're for or against abortion. the two things are similar, but not the same. pregnancy starts with an egg, and it's many months before it's childlike. almost everyone is for more education, fewer unwanted pregancies, and early abortions (when abortion is chosen). and the thing in the womb IS a part of the mother's body for at least six months. even our medical ability can't support it without the mother.

3. if your opinion can't be changed, then it's not really an opinion anymore, is it?
