What a shame that he's only locked up for life in a maximum security prison without a chance of ever being paroled! You are soooo disappointed that we didn't have another state sponsored murder here, aren't you? Would wacking him bring those kids back? Fuck no. Would the parents sleep better at night? Fucking fuck no.

We need reform in our whole penal system. Start with eliminating the death penalty, which does nothing to deter crime but does lots to put innocent people to death, putting blood on the hands of every US citizen on who's behalf the inmates are slaughtered.

Locking someone up without the possibility of parole protects society, and is more cost effective than putting them to death.

This guy is a murderer, and should not ever be allowed off of the prison grounds. He's not going to gain financially from this. Do you think other people living on the brink are going to see the program and go kill someone so they can be just like him? I'll wager the lyrics he's singing aren't about the wonderful decisions he's made and how happy he is.

For the rest of the prisoners... When are we going to actually try and use prisons as a way to reform people and return them to society? Other countries can do it, so why can't we? People that eat lutefisk are smarter than us? Come on. We treat prisoners like dogs, deny them even the slightest outlet for creativity or exercise (beyond just bulking up with weights so that they become even more intimidating and ominous upon release) - then wonder why recidivism rates are so high.

This warden should be commended for enacting this program. Those inmates now have motivation to behave, and because of that it will be safer for the prison guards to be around them. VH1 is doing the right thing covering this story as well. Would you be this outraged if it were 60 Minutes covering the same story?
