To answer your original question, Analog recording Vs. Digital depends upon the way each interprets the frequency. Because Analog is less effecient than Digital a certain anount of low-level distortion is introduced into the overall sound that is more often than not pleasing to the ear. This is what many people refer to as warmth. This is widely accepted as being better than a straight digitak signal. Many mastering houses today will routinely record digital recording to 2 inch analog tape and then back to digital in order to get this warmth. I myself master everything I record on my computer down to a reel to reel tape deck now. Not only does this give be a better overall sound (especially in the bass frequencies), I can also record at a higher resolution and not have to go through the nightmare of converting to crappy cd format.
