Right...BUT...you gotta "capture" that warmth.  Sound recording is very difficult, nearly impossible technically.  Digital..no matter how good..will never capture the complete sound, but most digital units sound "better" than equivalent analog (I'm talking price-range here), because for great analog capture you need a fine turntable and a cartridge that is probably the price of  a CD player; balanced tone arm...etc.. So, if someone were to go to the store and get a 600$ CD player, yes it will sound "better" than a 600 analog set-up, perhaps, and then the records need to be cleaned etc...So, most people don't want to mess with turntables anymore, and were only too glad the digital technology came of age. 

If you get the chance, compare equivalent systems sometime of one of your favorite pieces of music, and see for yourself.  

Recently, I even played  some of  my cassettes, and they sounded pretty good, also.  I suppose, in the final analysis, it depends on WHICH vinyl, and WHICH disc to have a decent comparison, because of mastering.
