I know you were not addressing me but... you say

" Liberals appear to want to do for people what they can and should do for themselves." 

 

I dare to hope that the liberals main concern is not a free ride for anyone, rich or poor, but rather that the people themselves, the individuals are heard and addressed and considered by the top level of the decision process. We the people, Rep & Dem want to be a part of the national direction. At times both parties have made the people feel like commodities.
