Was, he was the guy that introduced me, and probably others here, to Alex Jones and David Icke. I had never heard of these guys until Kent brought them up here and he took the things the two of them said as incredibly important to the survival of mankind. Kent did really mean well and really did care about all of us here. He did what he did because he thought he was helping us and had to do his best to break through our belief systems. It was serious stuff to Kent.
He had several long conversations with me off of this message board, that was for several reasons. He did attack Dan here at one point and that was uncalled for and ugly and he really did mix it up with several people here. I believe, and this is pretty ironic due to who Alex Jones became, the guys around here that leaned to the right really savaged Kent on a regular basis for his posting about Jones and Icke...because, back then, Jones and Icke were really just rambling about nutty stuff. Turns out Donald Trump, Roger Stone, and the Republican clown show love Jones. This really happened, I think, in the lead up to Trump running for president, so maybe in the 2012-2014 period or maybe they were always tied to Jones. Stone, I believe. became a regular on his show. Trump has praised Jones on many, many occasions.
Kent had long been dead at this point but I have always wondered how he would have taken Alex Jones shift to becoming a right wing hero. I did ask the right wing guys here what they thought of that, I don't think any of them responded to me except for Marc, who I believe said at the time that Jones gets a lot of stuff right. I honestly thought that was hilarious because pretty sure Marc took Kent apart about how stupid the stuff Jones said was. At that point though, because Jones was spewing right wing conspiracy garbage, he got a lot of stuff right.
I found it interesting learning about Jones from Kent and then seeing Jones become a hero on the right. Kent was honestly easier to talk to off of this message board. When he was here he tended to be arguing with people trying to get them to understand what he was saying. Off this board he would listen and have a back and forth. He stuck by Jones and Icke though and he sent packages out to people related to them.
He sent some books to Andrea and she ended up mailing them to me because she wanted me to look at them. I told Kent back then that Jones struck me right off as a con man, a total bullshit artist, that also seemed chemically enhanced. The speech patterns of a manic coke addict.
I recall reading an article about Jones that put him at the center of the freedom of speech discussion in this country because Jones was/is a guy that keeps running into the crowded theater yelling "Fire!" when there is no fire. He also really falls into the argument that a lot of people on the right want to use as a defense, which is if they claim to really believe the stuff they are saying, then you can't call what they are saying lies and so you can't prosecute them for lying. They all attempt this defense, no matter how insane or stupid the lies they tell.
The hilarious aspect to this is, the right wing guys here would never let Kent off the hook when he explained these were the things he believed, but man the right wing nuts out there want to let off any wacko Republican because they claim to believe the lies they spew. Just makes no sense, other than, if you like the lie, then you are willing to go with it.
All of this nonsense, to me, seemed to lead us right to where we are now, where beliefs to people on the right trump facts. As long as you believe it, it's fine, if it is a fact you don't like...fake news. MAGA loves this idea.
If Kent followed Alex Jones down the path of claiming mass shootings were staged events using crisis actors, well, I guess people on the right would have then embraced Kent. He would have become a hero to a guy like Marc, or at least a guy that was right about a lot of stuff like Alex Jones. It's all right in the history of this message board.
