It’s happening over here a lot. Ironically the most avid and fanatical medieval bigots seem to be people like Cruella Braverman who would not for the profile of the white Anglo Saxon Protestant gammon faced Tory. Or Priti Patel?
the thing I find most reassuring is that they don’t feel the need to hide their racism or bigotry anymore.
being emboldened to flaunt their extremist credentials is probably the best weapon we can have as at least then we know them for what they are.
I’m not sure my logic works for everyone else but I’m happier knowing who they are than just guessing.
And now we have the unfolding unpleasantness between Erdogan and Netanyahu calling each other out. I find myself saying no Netanyahu is not Hitlerian. Not by a country mile and he’d be right to be offended by someone insinuating that.
it’s like watching fascists playing tennis at Wimbledon but using hand grenades instead of tennis balls. Slightly entertaining but ultimately whoever wins they’ll all shake hands and go drink Pimms afterwards with Tories.
