Reg being extremely prescient here, back in 2004, and remember, pre-Social Media:

"The "Protocols Of The Wise Men Of Zion" is the most infamous piece of propaganda ever written. It was a piece written by a French author that had nothing to do with the Jews and if I remember correctly was actually intended as farce.

[ ......... ]

Anyway, the reason I refer to it is because I believe that if Hitler and the Russians could do that much damage with a piece of propaganda back then...when the flow of information was infinitely slower than our blink of an eye techno-cyber-info-superhighway of today...well then think what they could do now. You can in fact manufacture support for a war in a single day. Maybe in a single hour. You can destroy a reputation, demonize a person or people, cause the stock market to crash...all in the blink of an eye. We have the ultimate distribution tools working 24/7 and 365.

Reg's prescient statement above is part of a contemporaneous discussion about the Bush Administration lies leading to the US invasion of Iraq, post 9/11, and refers specifically to the Bush Administration's spiteful outing of Valerie Plame and the reckless burning of an entire NOC-level anti-nuclear proliferation operation, a treasonous crime for which Dick Cheney's Chief of Staff Scooter Libby fell on his pen knife and went briefly to a luxury jail.

And with the benefit of Winter 2023's hindsight, did any of these Bush II apologists ever acknowledge that the Bush Administration cynically fabricated evidence and lied us into the worst strategic and humanitarian decision since the Vietnam War?

A resounding 'No.' And with that 'No,' the Republican Party chose instead to nurture the viper at their bosom, to embrace the cognitive dissonance required to do that, and to continue their journey to the psychotic depths where they now reside.
