Curiosity gets the best of me with this stuff and folks in the Pat-o-sphere. My general guess is, he probably has not looked at any actual news in years. So, of course, when he says something it sounds as if he has been trapped in a cave for a decade.
I've come to accept that many of the people on the Republican side of things, particularly in certain states and certain parts of the country, have been, basically, cut off from facts/reality. It's certainly an aggravating/frightening thing and it is by design because if you can't agree on the simple facts, you can't have a conversation.
So, I do ask myself, what should we do?
On the really hardcore MAGA people, well, the truth to me is we do just have no option but to walk away from them. We/anybody on the left will never have their trust and they will always feel we are misleading them. It's entirely the triage thing, save who we can save but if these folks want to push toward their own destruction...we should be letting them go and grabbing the people that are in doubt and maybe don't know what is happening but they sense there is something very wrong. Help them reach the lifeboats.
I keep hoping Pat will understand when I write him a response like that, I am reaching out a hand to him, there are good intentions behind it. I realize though, Pat is in Texas, likely in an environment which is nothing like the environment I am in. We don't hear and see the same things. So the conversation, if there even is one, is like screaming at each other through a hurricane. I am never sure what he heard me say if he heard any of it.
Pat is a bit of a tease because in one post he says he is "evolving" and I wonder toward what? He leans into the idea he has abandoned the Trump thing (way too late but OK) but then says something that sounds as wacky as ever. When he comes back and tries again, as he did in this thread, I foolishly, perhaps, think it is a sign that he does want to move away from the dark side...why else would he talk to us?
So, I type out the response and wait to see if he is going to have an exchange with me. He generally does not. His responses tend to be bizarrely elliptical and veer from topic to topic so as never to pin him down. Direct questions seem an exercise in futility.
Part of me thinks he maybe is just trying to get people to tell him to fuck off. That may be all he wants.
I just can't help wondering, when things like the FOX news clowns openly admitting that they lie to their viewers, Tucker Carlson saying he absolutely hates Trump with a passion, does Pat hear this and what does he think of it if he does? Did it make a dent? Was that why he was saying he was evolving?
It's not like it is a revelation to most of us, it just is just more of the carnival freak show we have to endure and leaves us stewing in our own disgust but yeah, I stupidly sit here wondering what did someone like Pat Brown think of that? Is he bewitched, bothered, bewildered? Did he spit out his coffee when he saw that news? Did he see that news? Is he just mostly staring at Hunter Biden dick pics?
Am I pathetic for wondering what is going on in the space inside his skull? I question my own sanity with regularity.
Pat Brown...a mystery wrapped in a riddle inside an enigma. Or, it is just the wind I am hearing?
So, as we wait for the next shoe to drop, this one goes out to Pat in Texas...
