Why we should abandon government: Arguments for anarchy

...According to the popular definition of anarchism, anarchists would be a cultist arrangement of murderers who sought to take all they could from society at other people's direct loss. However , nothing could be further from what true anarchism entails. Truly, it is those who are in positions of power in our society who more easily and properly fit the popular definition of an anarchist. No anarchist would give so much power to such a thing as "the marker," no anarchist would support going to war to protect one group of oil barons from another. One thing that is clear is that in our society- being able to take an order is deemed a skill. Being able to think, speak and provide for one's self is considered dangerous. When one looks at the historical Grecian roots of anarchy, they understand that it means "without a ruler or authority." This is how anarchists have thought of anarchy. This is why anarchists oppose not just the state, but all forms of hierarchical institutions.

So, now is as crucial as any other time to stress the sensibilities of the Green Anarchist movement. The green anarchist critique focuses on the institutions of domination that make up society, all grouped under the broad term "civilization". Such institutions include for example, the state, capitalism, globalization, domestication, patriarchy, science, or technology. These institutions are inherently destructive and exploitative (to humyns and the environment) therefore, they cannot be reformed. This movement generally rejects progress through current political lines, favoring direct and autonomous action, sabotage, insurrection, bioregionalism, and reconnecting with the wild to create meaningful change.

Green Anarchists also promote the dissolution of civilization. The term civilization is defined by the theorists as logic, institutions, and physical apparatus of control, domestication, and domination. The rise of civilization can be defined as the shift between life as a function of harmonization of nature, to the formation of institutions to subject nature to systems of control. Because these systems of control extend to animals and nature, in Green Anarchism, all forms of control would need to be gone for the movement to gain true advantages.

Given that there would be no profit-extracting class, there would be no need for growth for the sake of growth. Instead the economy and industry would function for the benefit of society and not to the detriment of environmental values. The removal of hierarchy would remove the institutionalized basis for greed. Instead, the decentralization of decision making and the removal of domination from society would mean that economic and social decision making was made at the point of impact upon a community - within the community itself. A community would not be forced to accept pollution through state bullying or corporate bribery. Anarchist education would encourage cooperation and respect, while seeking to fully develop the potentials of each person. Because of this ideal, many of the problems or our society, which begin in our schools would be addressed from an early age. A bad education makes it harder to accept the value of freedom, equality and mutuality. Anarchists want the best for all of society, not just a small minority as is currently the case. In the anarchist vision there is no party vanguard who become a new aristocracy, nor is there room for unrestrained corporate activity which would threaten to completely trash our environments....
