although i enjoyed the destructive power of guns as a youth and shot a .357, i'm just not that into 'em. but we do have the right to own them, and that cat's waaaaay out of the bag and it ain't goin' back in. yep, people die because of this, and it won't stop; welcome to America. i am in favor of trigger locks, 'smart' guns, and other reasonable measures to prevent accidents.

using them for hunting doesn't bother me in the slightest, but any fantasies of owning guns to prevent gov't tyranny are some kind of Idaho militia wet dream. we lost that battle a long time ago, and allowing the public to possess assault weapons will only make headlines of the worst kind, a la James Huberty (google that golden oldie...)

funny, Nugent was just at the Fillmore last month. my buddy went and said that ol' tyrannosaurus Ted just went off in between songs with all the neocon 'let's piss off SF' shit he could hurl...and the crowd just sat there quietly, waiting for him to...shut up and play his guitar. perfect response.
