Yes the Maritimes (east coast) is very laid back, very blue collar, hard working. I live on the West Coast. Surrey, British Columbia to be exact. Vancouver proper is gorgeous, surrounded by the Coastal Mountain Range and the Pacific. We are known for our cool, laid back lifestyle here.
