So, with the new abortion law, can we lock up the judgmental family for creating the hostile environment which the girl so fears?  Are there enough jail cells for the entire right wing of the Republican party?

Geez, Herring...I kinda sense a bit of a slant there.

That's my biggest peeve with the whole issue.  We see the girl get knocked up and then try to drum her out of society because she made a mistake.  We criminalize interaction between girls and boys to the point that sex is dirty and yet facinating and something to be gotten away with.  We overstimulate them with television, provide little funding for stimulating intellectual activity, give them ample time to sneak around and fuck and then act suprised and ashamed when the prom queen whelps the quarterback's offspring on the bathroom floor.  It's not a problem that will go away with ONE change.  It's lots of gentle changes...understanding adolescent sexuality without trivializing it, provide funding for meaningful after school and weekend activity, provide community based parenting services for new parents, old parents, tax incentives maybe for folks who attend these classes...and time to let the big changes occurr. 

It won't stop the problem completely.  Nothing will.  Force someone to change and as soon as the coercion is over, they go back to bad habits. Make them change the way they think...now that's progress.
