Musically I devide the 80's into 2 sections. They would be 1983 and 1986-87.
1983 Produced Syncronicity and was at the cusp of bands like Berlin, A Flock of Pigeon Shit and Duran Duran. During this time I tried the wild wood weed and watched MTV incesantly with the original 4 VJ's. This too me was the best period of music ever or my most enjoyable time because MTV played videos 24-7. Do you remember bands like the Squeeze, Toni Basil and The Talking Heads and of course Def Leppard
TV shows I watched were Hill Street Blues and Cheers every week.
I can remember going to see The Big Chill like 3 times at the movie theater each time with just a little more hooch
Then 1986-87 came around and the best album of the 80's came out and that was Joshua Tree no doubt about it. But it also produced Boomtown which I still listen to regularly and wonder what if? What if these guys produced a follow up like U2 did with the Unforgettable Fire. Could this be a lead in to a masterpiece. But it was not to come. All I can say is when I listened to this album I always wondered who is this David guy and where the %$#@ did that fantastic vocal come from.
(I had no idea which one was which until 1991 Bedtime Stories)
Best Movie: Top Gun. Oh yeah put that baby on my VHS-HiFi ($799 at the time) :):)
As for TV I can remember the Fox channel coming into its own with shows like the Tracey Ullman show, In living Color and the Simpsons, Married with Children also was a standout
