I think it's as much a matter of conceptions - if you only listen to C&W on the periphery than you are only going to be exposed to the overproduced glam boys/girls that are played on the monopoly radio stations. Looking at the occasional bumpkin video they seem very much like the ones produced for the teenybopper crowd - some pretty faces pretending to play a musical instrument. Guess it makes sense as there are some definite parallels in level of education and maturity between the two audiences.

Or maybe it's because of the proven connection between higher rates of suicide and country music. The songwriters would perform the songs if they were still around.
