I just read the article two more times. Don't quite see where I am missing the point. PLeas enlighten me.
I see no shame in profitting off of your talents. If the artist chooses not to for personal reasons or due to the personal meaning behind a song I also respect that choice.
However, why is it selling out in music? I imagine every author out there incorporates personal and intimate true life events into their writings yet you never hear of a New York Times bestselling author being called a sellout. Same with poets and painters. Every artist incorporate personal events into their work yet it seems to only label musicians as sellouts when they profit from their abilities and/or gift.
My further point was that while I enjoy and respect Wait's music, I have heard nothing of him requesting his label to pull the onslought of advertisements they purchased upon his release of the two new albums. Even further if it wasn't about the money why didn't he combine the 2 discs on to one disc or package them into a specially priced 2 disc set? Because he wants to continue to make a living off of his ability and he knows his fans are willing to spend the money for 2 discs- A good financial move.
Later-
Jason
